KATHMANDU, Nepal - Kikuta Yutaka, Japan's Ambassador to Nepal, presented Japanese study books to Tribhuvan University's Department of International Relations and Diplomacy.
The handover ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Shiva Lal Bhusal, Rector of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Kushum Shakya, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Prof. Dr. Khadga K.C. of Department of International Relations and Diplomacy, and students.
The books, which range from classics on Japanese spiritual culture to contemporary political and economic issues, will be housed in the Tribhuvan University's Department of International Relations and Diplomacy library.
Ambassador Kikuta stressed the importance of young students reading good books to promote spiritual growth. He hoped that the Japanese-flavored books would broaden their minds.
The Nippon Foundation's "Read Japan Project" provided the books. Since 1975.
"We would be delighted if these books help Nepalese students learn about Japan and the Japanese way of thinking. Of course, we would welcome any student interested in studying in Japan because of reading these books," said the Ambassador.
