ROXAS CITY, Capiz, April 8 (PIA) - The National Food Authority (NFA) Capiz Branch Office has accounted 231,797 bags of palay and 53,207 bags of milled rice in Aklan and Capiz provinces based on its rice inventory as of March 31 this year.
The government rice stocks that is equivalent to 199,239 bags of rice, if all the palay have been milled, and will be good for 19 days for Capiz and Aklan based on a 10,460 daily rice consumption of the two provinces.
The continuing palay procurement of the NFA has contributed to the government's rice stock in preparation for calamities and emergencies.
Based on NFA records, the branch office has surpassed its palay procurement target by 110 percent or 19,828 procured bags of palay vis-à-vis the 18,000 procurement goal from January to March 31 this year.
NFA buys clean and dry palay with 14 percent moisture content and 95 to 100 percent purity at P19 per kilogram.
Farmers may sell their palay at the buying stations located at the NFA warehouses in Brgy. Bolo, Roxas City; Brgy. Sta. Cruz in Dumalag town; Brgy. Mangoso in the municipality of Sigma and at Aklan Grains Center in Brgy. Linabuan Sur, Banga, Aklan.
For this year, the NFA Branch targets to buy 520,000 bags of clean and dry palay from farmers in Aklan and Capiz provinces. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
