Miandad lauds Pak' s whitewash of England in UAE series

Pakistan Telegraph (ANI) Tuesday 7th February, 2012

Former Pakistan captain and batting legend Javed Miandad has lauded his team's whitewash of England in the series in the United Arab Emirates.

"I must be in the minority because I am not surprised at Pakistan comfortably defeating England in the Test series. Just because you are ranked the number one team in the world doesn't give you a God given right to win all of the time,"PakPassion.net quoted Miandad, as saying.

"During the Test series against England, Pakistan have played wonderful cricket and deserved to win the series convincingly. Even when at times England held the upper hand for short periods, Pakistan fought back admirably. I congratulate the Pakistan team for their efforts and they deserve a tremendous amount of credit for their hard work and tenacity. Pakistan played the better cricket throughout the series and they made it count where it mattered, which is on the field, out there in the middle, not off the pitch. England were outplayed by Pakistan!" he added.

Miandad said that the Pakistan bowling attack was of such high quality in the UAE, that if they had to defend 200 against any opposition they were more than capable of doing just that.

"The Pakistani bowlers were in form and by my reckoning, this bowling attack in those conditions would be able to defend 200 against any opposition in the world. The England batsmen could simply not read the Pakistani spinners. If you cannot read the spinners and are just relying on guesswork, you are not going to last very long in the middle. It's bowling attacks that win you matches and this current Pakistan bowling attack is a match winning attack," he said.

Miandad also said that it was an all round team effort that led to Pakistan's victory against England. (ANI)
